Carling
Installation
The deck
beams were cut away, after marking them carefully, and the carling bent into
place. Doing this was quite a task as
the carling is a substantial member and took lots of effort to bend. Working out the shape of the top of the carlings
was also pretty tricky and required a temporary carling made of some thin MDF
sheet to be put in place and the top edge marked on it. Once we had the shape the rest was much
easier.
Here they
are after being installed.

Here is the
ski pole in place. Just had to have one
as we hope to be able to kneeboard with this boat. The pole is made up from six pieces of Tas Oak laminated together
to form a square section (well nearly square) and then turned down to a nice
shape. It is then glued and screwed to
the transom and glassed in as well. If
this pulls out it will take the back of the boat with it!

The pole
looks to be very high but it will only poke out about 100mm above the top of
the engine cover.
