Engine
Bearers and Pump Housing
The engine
bearers were next. They sit on top of
the batten laminations and provide a very solid base for the engine to sit on.
Here the
engine bearers are being fabricated before fitting into boat:

Here are in
place and held apart with temporary spacers:

After much
looking and thinking about the pump mounting an extra lamination of the keel
was put on with a cut our for where the pump was going to fit. This was only roughly the correct shape and
was further cut later:

“It’s not
going to float now Dad” said Kate. Too
right! Check our how thick the keel is!

Holes for
the control cables and water pipes were needed as were the bung holes:

Pump
housing finally in place (never to come out again):

View of the
pump housing from the transom. It looks
a but ugly from here but will be covered up later when the pump cover goes on.
